Philosophy, practiced with intention
Philosophique is an independent publishing project that treats philosophy as a practice rather than a discipline. We publish quarterly editions, each organized around a single question developed across writing and conversation.
Each edition includes carefully curated texts, an original reading guide, recorded conversations, and a simple physical object intended to structure time and attention. These elements are developed together as part of a single inquiry and are released quarterly.
Editions
the art of solitude
Q4 2025
Focused on Stephen Batchelor’s The Art of Solitude, this inaugural edition traces the practice of solitude across cultures and faith practices. We understand the importance of solitude in finding meaning in our lives, but also its risks. In conversation with the author, we explore what solitude means and why it is important.
the risk of truth to being loved
Q1 2026
Pairing bell hooks and Michel Foucault, we explore the relationship between truth-telling, performance, and intimacy. What does it cost to tell the truth about who you are? Can love survive that honesty, or does it require it? We examine when speaking the truth threatens what we depend on, and what makes that risk livable over time.
Anger and its uses
Q2 2026
In the third edition, we turn from love to anger, asking when is anger useful and when should it be acted upon or responded to. From individual relationships to societal order, anger has a large role to play and we can learn much from examining its nature and uses. We explore the range of impacts anger can have.
About
our company
Philosophique creates structured encounters with serious ideas for people who want to think clearly about their lives without being told what to do.
We sit between self-help and academic philosophy, offering depth without dogma, rigor without abstraction. Each quarterly edition centers on a single enduring question and includes curated readings, a rigorous guide, long-form conversations, and a candle as physical ritual.
Philosophy as practice, not prescription.
